GREETINGS TO MY TSG FRIENDS FROM LTEGSR1933:

I hope that I have chosen the correct location for my post. Long story short...I gutted my last pc and now have all new components. In the meantime I have been using this laptop. I wish to transfer my files to the new pc as well as lighten the load on this one. I purchased a usb flash drive and I have several types of cd/dvds. I do not know how to find out the total size of the files I want to transfer nor the best way to go about it. Any help is most appreciated, you folks are held in high regard here. Thank you.

Select them all by holding the Shift key with the mouse or Ctrl key with the mouse. Then right click and select properties. It will start adding up the total size of all the files you selected.
