Question Solved: Cursor problem on aol
I have an old Dell computer using Windows XP. My problem is the mouse/cursor on AOL. The mouse /cursor works fine when I am not online or when I use Internet Explorer. However, when I access AOL, the cursor freezes in one spot, blinking on and off. The only way I can access my aol is going first to internet explorer. Any ideas?

Hi and welcome. The AOL software may be corrupt. What version of AOL is it?

And the freezing only happens in AOL, right? Not any other programs?

What version of Windows are you using? We can try uninstalling and rebuilding the AOL Adapter and see if that helps.

Okay, let's try this..

Click Start, select All Programs or Programs, select AOL or America Online, and then click AOL System Information.
Do you see a Utilities tab?

Okay good. When you click on that tab, at the bottom do you see "Rebuild AOL Adapter" or possibly "Uninstall AOL Adapter" ? or anything like that. I haven't used AOL in awhile so this is going by memory.

I did as you suggested, then I shut down my computer and restarted it, but unfortunately, the aol cursor problem still exists. Is there anything else I can try?

My next suggestion would be to uninstall the AOL software and then reinstall it.

You're welcome

Unfortunately, their software is pretty buggy. I always noticed every time they would upgrade the versions, it just got progressively worse.

You know you don't necessarily need it. You can check your AOL Mail through Internet Explorer. You could also download free AOL Instant Messenger and use your same screenname.

I know, my oldest son can't stand aol, but I guess I am just used to the format. I have been accessing it through internet explorer and that works much better. Thanks again!! Have a great day!
