I deleted a fairly large amount of files to my recycle bin. After I restored them I found that they weren't in the folders they were in originally. I searched for them and found them but am unable to access them. When I try to open file location a message pops up saying that 'the file location refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer or on a network. If it cannot be located it might have moved to a different location'
Does anyone know how I may be able to find the location of these files?

Please post the entire message as it will include the path to the location that is unavailable.

What type of files are you talking about? Were they documents created in Word? If so, what version?

Some were Notepad documents and the rest were JPEG Images.
C:\Users\Nick\Pictures\My Stuff\Snow Day\Snow Day 001 refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located it might have moved to a different location.'

Almost sounds like you just restored shortcuts and not the actual pictures themselves. Do the icons have little arrows on them? Right click one and choose properties, what does it list in the general tab for size and type of file?

For size it says 0 bytes and type is (.jpeg)
However my recycling bin is empty.
Sorry if I'm sounding moronic I'm evidently not as computer literate as I once thought. Appreciate the help though

I went into Computer-Users-Nick-Pictures then searched for the pictures and they all popped up but when i tried to open them it says the file is not available and when I right click and click open file location the message I have written above appears.

Google finds nothing on it?

I'm guessing that he means
C:\Documents and Settings\nick\my documents\my pictures (XP)
C:\Users\Nick\Pictures\ (Vista/7)

Or

C:\Documents and Settings\nick\recent (XP)
C:\Users\Nick\recent (vista/7)

If what you have is 0 bytes, then it definitely sounds like a shortcut and not the actual file.

Do you still have these folders and is there anything in them?
