I have been here less often than normal lately. My significant other had lower back surgery Monday to repair / replace three disks in her back and to realign and then "fuse" four vertebrae. Four hours surgery, a couple hours in recovery, finally to her room about 8:30 p.m.
Doctor said everything went great. She says that something must be wrong cause she is not feeling any pain. Part of that could be the morphine that she has used very sparingly. The other part is that the new alignment has relieved her of her constant pain and that the pain from the surgery is less than what she was used to living with. They have had her up and walking a couple of times, wearing a back brace. They have finally taken her catheter out, and she is going to get to take her first shower today.
She will be in the hospital until Thursday or Friday, but then be at home resting and healing for the next month or so.
Between trying to work, trying to make sure her son stays out of trouble, and still trying to be at the hospital 24 hours a day, I haven't had much time to stop by here. But, I had to stop in today to pass on congrats to the Piston fans. Should be back to my normal lurking by next week...
