#496 | Actually I was crusing the neighborhood Saturday around that time, which is why I asked. Around 10 am I stopped off at Walmart to pickup my Tequila *at Walmart prices * before heading home. I was thinking I was so close, I could have stopped by then, but I didn't have much time Saturday. Our plane left at 2:00, and being that the Acapulco airport is so far behind check-in technology, (no offense; as frequently as you travel to the US I'm sure you understand what I'm talking about) it was important to get to the airport at a reasonable hour. Actually...right at 11:30 I probably was sitting in traffic next to the over pass mess. For some reason, the slowly moving traffic decided to sit put for a bit in the presence of a few shovels.
How's the weather there today? There is nothing worse than getting off the airplane and getting hit with below freezing winds through the opening of the gangway, right after leaving near 90* weather.

#497 | Raining today.
Did you actually drive around the streets in my area....or stay up on the Escenica?
The airport. Hmmm....we NEVER get there 3 hours before Usually about one hour before is the most we ever do. Never a check in line, because all the gringos have already made it thru | | Distinguished Member with 7,850 posts. | | Join Date: May 2001 Location: Collegeville, Minnesota Experience: Mechanical Engineering Ninja |

#498 | No we didn't actually drive around the streets in your area, except when traffic was locked up the taxi driver would usually turn off the strip at the overpass mess and drive around the strip to the Villa Vera, which usually constituted a few circles and back tracking.
We weren't there 3 hours early, but 2. I've rarely even been to an airport that early before, even with an International flight, but it's a good thing we did because we got to the Northwest line and there were just two groups ahead of us. We were the last ones to check in on the plane, (since the rest of the Gringos got there at least 3 hours early) and even though there wasn't much of a line, it took almost an hour to check in. (from the time we reached the line to when we were finished) 45 minutes was spent at the counter, actually "checking" in) The MSP airport is all electronic now. You can show up at the airport with your e-ticket, go to an electronic check-in, get your ticket, then check-in, and be sitting in your seat on the plane in less than 20 minutes (even during rush times)--without even talking to a human being. Well...there is a ticket agent overseeing the electronic checkins much like the self-checkouts at Walmart. When it is time to check IDs/passports in the electronic checkin process, the agent comes over, swipes/checks them and you go about finishing your business.
ACA still uses the old red seat stickers that they manually place on your boarding pass. I don't even think Los Cabos is still doing that.
One hour is pretty good though; but you are two people and we had six. (and one isn't a US citizen, and traveling on US and Mexican Visas, so that adds some time)

Yes, that can be problematic. We have a similar problem when we take another couple.
Quite frankly, Northwest stinks.

#500 | Well then--I guess it just is Northwest. I agree they aren't the best. The only reason I prefer Northwest is; one, my father has literally millions of frequent flier miles that need to be used (and subsequently the platinum flier status that goes with it ); and two, since Minneapolis is not only just a NWA hub, I think it is the "motherhub" aswell...so that means direct fliights anywhere in the world.
