20 Years -- Smoke Free
Hi All. I'd just like to let you know that today is the 20th anniversary of my last cigarette. Any suggestions as to how I should celebrate?

On January 1st 1985, I made a resolution to stop smoking sometime during that year. I made no attempt to stop smoking on that day, but what I did do was to start analyzing the habit, and just generally thinking about the whole activity of smoking.

Then, on July 29th, I was on a flight between the Canadian cities of Calgary and Winnipeg. You could still smoke on domestic flights back then. I booked a seat in the smoking section and enjoyed a couple of cigarettes on the flight. When the flight ended in Winnipeg, it just seemed to be the right time to quite. I took my pack of cigarettes out of my pocket and placed them on my seat as I departed the plane. That was my last one. And, I have never been temped to pick up the habit again.

Thanks TGG. At your stage of life, it is probably difficult for you to even imagine 20 years of anything!

Thanks Agnelize. I hope it is going to be a lot more than another 20 years! And I do care about my health. (However, in these past 20 smoke-free years, I did put on 20 lbs!)

I must agree - food tastes much better. At least I certainly enjoy it more.
