Happy Valentines day to anyone who ever earned or won somewhere in my heart over the years. I give this symbol of peace, of love and esteem to you - oh lady of the lake!

............................and I'm never gonna be accused by anyone of not being romantic!

Yeah, it was very good news about John McCarthy - as it was about Keenan before that and Terry Waite and Jack Mann after. But then so was that of the Americans, French and anyone else who was released from that bloody awful situation in the Lebanon. After I stopped making radio programmes in 1993 - a stint in a cul-de-sac band and some part time college I never forgot that album - or the ethos of what it was supposed to be about.

I wanted to try and develop a life around that ethos - not because of the rock music stuff (turned out that I had plenty of that anyway - whether I wanted it or not), but because of how a bunch of people - be they Musicians, Poets, Journalists, Photographers, a larger than life Belfast Entreprenuer, relatives of the disappeared, Lawyers, Accountants and even interested parties in the governement that typified human rights - (Civic Forum) - can get together and tell the world that people just can't be spirited away by violence, tortured and captive for years and no-one take any notice.

That was what I wanted to do - use that momentum to help people - and make a genuine difference in peoples lives.

What did you do?

There are only 2 sorts of music - the record that's on the stereo, and all the ones that aren't:
