Just knowing that you are thinking about fishing is a good sign. My son is a bigtime musky fisherman and all into catch and release too. Also, we fish for bass at little secret places on our lake. Nothing is kept though. People here are really into the sport. Hope you gain strength so you can include fishing again.

Nothing like musky or pike fishing, very exciting. I'll release all sport fish I catch but as far as Blue Gill, Crappie, and Perch their final resting place is in a large pot of oil and then my belly.

I forgot all about the fish you mentioned--yes, we do eat them and usually catch them just in time for breakfast or evening meal

I love perch. Ever so often I buy some and cook it for my hubby and myself. Wish I had some right now...it's making me hungry.

The only time in my life I fished was when I was a kid and my cousin took me fishing in Lake Michigan. I caught 12 perch. Don't know if that was legal or not, but the family had fish for dinner.
