Lion iMac takes a while to connect to ethernet
We've had problems with this imac not connecting to the network in the mornings. It seems to be okay if booted up and left alone for about 10 minutes. I've tried all the physical fixes, cables, different jack, checked the speed, duplex and mtu settings. Once it gets connected, it seems fine for the rest of the day.

Any other suggestions for potential fixes?

Is this via the ethernet cable only?
Can you connect via Wifi and does it also take long?

Are there other devices on the LAN?
Can you disconnect all other devices and see if that changes anything?

I have seen this before on two occasions.
In one case it was a conflict with another device on the LAN.
The second case it was some faulty ethernet wiring. When working on half duplex 10Mbps setting, all was fine. Anything higher causes issues since all 8 wires in the ethernet cable were needed and sub par ethernet cable had 4.
