files renaming themselves
I need your help, I am working on a Power mac G4
9.2 OS

For the last couple of days my computer is changing the names of my files
I am a graphic designer , designing book covers
I create a folder using the ISBN number of a book
03872345-4/Title of book

Inside that folder is all the work that goes with the book but a couple of days ago I would create a folder and it would take the name of another folder already being used or I would create a peice of art like a jpg or tif file and I would name it say 0-306-48333-4 I would go to something else and when I went back to the folder it would have another number.
or if I went to copy or move a file it would change my file name to another file name of another piece of art and it would over right the file but it now is using the wrong name. so my files are getting all messed up.
I ran Nortons disk doctor and it came up with nothing I will run a speed disk over the weekend and I'll try disk first AID tonight but what's happening I have never seen this before. I don't know if I am making any sense but please help (files renaming themselves to other file names)
Thank you, I hope you can help me
Sue
