Mac G3 Beige Ethernet port - Help please!
Hello, I have a Mac G3 Beige -- it was working great with OS 8. I just put OS 9.2 on it, after wiping the hard drive, but now I can't connect to the internet. When I plug the ethernet cable from the mac to my router, it doesn't even appear to be there. I don't know very much about Macs, but I do need to be able to connect to the internet. I heard that there is something about uninstalling or disabling LocalTalk or AppleTalk because it conflicts with using Ethernet, but I can't find ANY network settings or a way to manually configure anything.

Please help me, I am getting desperate. I am just about to throw my Mac off the balcony.

If I remember correctly, I think you can disable AppleTalk through the "Chooser". That's under the Apple Menu, in the upper left corner of the screen.
