Solved: print sharing not quite set-up...need help!
After days of pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to print a document from my iMac G5 2GHz 10.4.4, using a Canon printer attached to a networked PC running XP, I'm happy to say that I succeeded in sharing the printer [Canon iP4000] between the two computers.

My problem now, is that when I print from the PC there are options available eg: Duplex printing and knowing that the finished print job will mirror the doc to be printed, but when I print from the iMac the options are too few, no duplex option and the finished job ends up being printed as though the A4 page has been quartered and only the top left quarter has been printed on.

Thus the print size in minuscule and I can't seem to print to a full A4 size.

Can anyone help me here?

Thanks macguru, I went to the link and downloaded the drivers but it just confused things more.

The printer is attached to a PC and the printers that appear in the pull-down menu on the Mac are different to my pixma iP4000, in fact there are no iP canon printers in the list at all so I don't know which one to select.

Also I couldn't work out the print queue name for the printer????

And to confuse things even more for me the PDF help file that came with the download had pictures for a previous OS so I didn't know what to do about that.

Cool Buy a cheap printer for your Mac
.....just BUY a Printer for your Mac or buy a network printer if ypou can't get the drivers.

IF you want to try to make it work you HAVE to have drivers for your canon printer on your Mac. If you do NOT have or cannot get them from canon.com then GIVE IT UP?

Gutenprint is 5.0RC2 at current version. Maybe they have drivers for your printer. I mean it's really basic you need drivers for a printer installed on your Mac. Assuming you have set up printer sharing on your PC.
