uninstall OS 9 problem
When I try to drag the os9 system folder to trash, i get a message saying I can't because my system needs it.

I did know I had any applications requiring OS 9. How would I find those applications so I can delete OS 9.

Thanks,

Marc

You should NOT ever drag the system folder to the trash. That's what the computer reads whenever you press the power button on it. You can't delete it like that.

Here's a few questions:
1. Do you want to install OS X (10)?
2. Do you want to remove the system and start over?
3. If it's none of the above, why do you want to delete the system folder?

If you want to install OS X, don't throw out the system folder! You need to follow special directions to install it!

If you want to start over, back up you important work on a disk, and then get your Mac OS install disk that came with your computer.

Talking how to uninstall os 9 completely
did this recently for a client here is the trick for any Mac computer that does not boot into OS 9....... First open your system Folder for os 9. select all from the edit menu or drag ALL the items in the os 9 foler into the trash. Then empty trash will require system admin password. Then reboot computer. From there yopu can delete Applications OS 9 as well as the now empty system folder withoput issue. THEN in System/Library go to core services folder and delete Classic Startup.app....and also in System/Library/PreferencePanes folder delete the os 9 prefpane. THAT does it!
