Spotlight Disappeared... well... sorta
Ok, I have 10.4.3. And spot ligh in the task bar won't show it when i click it. When i use command + space it highlights but, the searchbar does not drop down.

The spot light independent window still shows and spotlight works in finder windows.

what is going on?

My spotlight isn't working either, less so... it's just there hanging around doing nothing. Did you get yours working again?

I think so. I have Leopard now, so that would have fixed it, and a new laptop. But, what i think happened is that i copied the spotlight file from my friend and replaced the one on my computer and restarted.

If you have leopard i can look for my spot light file and send it to you, just make sure you have the latest update. But it won't work for tiger. Just PM me.

Sorry I didn't answer this sooner; I didn't wee your answer till now. Really nice of you to offer to help me out. For no rhyme or reason spotlight showed up again, the same way it disappeared, so I am okay.
Mine's a tiger.
