Internet timing out
I have an emac OS X.4.2

when I'm on the internet I get a dialogue box asking me if I wish to stay connected. this happens appx every 15-20 minutes. If I do nothing it disconects from the internet.

Is there a way to stay connected for long periods of time without this coming up? It makes it really hard to download upgrades that may take a while.

I'm on a dial-up.

Thank you for any help. This is an annoying problem.

Hopefully a Preference
Hello,

Open System Preferences and click Network. Choose Internal Modem from the Show pop-up menu, click the PPP tab, and click PPP Options. Remove the check next to "Disconnect if idle for __ minutes" or increase the number of minutes. From Mac Help OS 10.28
Good Luck,
dp

your welcome...please come back and mark this tab as SOLVED so if someone else has the same problem they can find what worked without having to start a new thread..it also saves time for the people that help solve the problems by not wasting time looking at something thats already solved..consider making a donation to TSG to help offset the costs of maintaining this helpful site...thanks
