I'm curious as to why I'd buy a Mac if I wanted to run Windows.

I have specific needs. Part of my job includes video editing---To this point, I have done it on my PC's using PC software (I have about 3,000 bucks tied up in it). Many of my clients are now asking me to edit using Final Cut Pro---the Mac NLE. It would be nice to be able to run both OS's so that I don't have to be switching between machines. I hated the idea of having to buy a new Mac just to use their NLE application---Now I can rationalize it by saying that I'll have one machine that will do both.

OK can you dual boot? Is there a boot loader where you can choose which OS to start? Or do you just have to have one or the other?

without being able to have multiple OSs it would be pointless to run windows on a Mac. I was wondering. Have you tried loading multiple systems? Try loading an older Windows, like 2000 Professional, then load XP, after that load Xandros and finally OS 10.4.5. If you can do that and choose which system to start up the machine. I will go out and buy a Macbook tonight. If you can't, I'll wait until Apple makes their OS x86 compatible (and they are) and I'll add it into my systems to boot. I want the best of both worlds if I can have it. If you're only going to be able to run xp and Tiger it's not worth it.

You need to be able to get EFI support in the OS you plan on installing on the Macbook.
I see it easy enough to get linux running on it, just a matter of the developers and some time. Older versions of windows may be more difficult but prolly doable with some amount of work.

Ofcourse there is a bootloader.

And for my reason why I'd want to have XP on a Mac. Work and Entertainment on Mac, Game on Windows (until apple finally gets some games for their system, i'm stuck with windows).
