not starting up
hi i have a 1ghz ibook g4 running os x tiger

i left it running most of the day and came home to it
when it came out of screen saver it froze up i turned it off
and have been unable to get it to fully boot it will show the apple
logo and the loading thing you get when you turn it on but thats all

it has also started makeing a strange nosie

help please

Sounds like a hardware problem, most likely with the hard drive, given the scenario you describe, quite possibly the death thereof. This is not to say that (some of) the data cannot be saved. But it's not to say that it can be, either.

Without experiencing it firsthand I cannot say with 100% certainty, but given similar experience in the past this is what first comes to mind.
