Powerbook Power Problem
Just got a call from my daughter at college----Her Powerbook G4 is having the following problem. She turns it on (without the battery in it--that's been recalled) and it works for ten minutes. Then it mysteriously shuts off (completely). The green light on the power plug goes out----Any ideas what might be causing this?

Possibly the power pack may not be rated for powering the peak current demands, or the power pack may be faulty or both. With the battery in, the battery would have taken the peak loads.

Sounds like its shutting down, either on overcurrent or due to a fault. Overlaoding will usually cause a shutdown until the load is totally removed, when it will work again. If it takes a few minutes, its likely to be temperature related.
