Best Phone with Macs?
OK. My Razr V3c sucks. I have the 2.0 firmware (the latest is 4.x). My phone's firmware allows transfer of files via Bluetooth, but it's quirky--the new firmware does not allow transfer at all!!! Whats the point of getting bluetooth then?! It absolutely sux on my PC laptop BTW (the bluetooth just sucks on the PC in my opinion). The Mac is easier and I can put .mp3s, vids, pics, pretty much whatever onto my phone with the Mac. The problem is that the Razr's battery life is crap and I want a new phone. I have Verizon not Cingular--so I'm stuck there. Any ideas???

If battery life is your chief complaint then get a third party battery.

I can tell you this: Don't get an LG phone from Sprint. Sprint has actively chosen to gut the usability of Bluetooth, limiting it to use with headsets and MODEM use, but not for data transfer, which is the main reason a lot of people would have chosen to go with a Bluetooth-enabled phone.

I got an LG phone from Sprint because it was Bluetooth-enabled, going on the recommendations of the minimum-wage staff at the store, because I wanted to have connectivity betwixt my computer and my phone. The only connectivity that the Bluetooth connection allows is using the phone as a MODEM, which, granted, is pretty cool, should you be out in the "wilderness" where phone service works, but no wireless broadband access exists, but it hamstrings you if you wanted to use your phone as an extension of your computer's database of contacts.

Apple is rumored to be introducing an iPhone. Might be as early as September 12 -- they have a Media Event in California that day.

But, just to be a stick-in-the-mud, that has been a rumor for at least two years. I hope it's true, mind you. I'd love to have a phone that would work seamlessly (regardless of its make) with my computer(s).

Hey Vegas: looks like the rumor is finally coming true. That iPhone looks really cool. Too bad it is Cingular only .....

Looks like I'll be changing my cell plan come June (and saving my pennies!)

Yeah, this would happen just after I was eligible to renounce my LG phone and get a Razr. That's okay, I guess. I'm happy with the Razr thus far (though I still find Sprint neutered its address book capabilities as far as Bluetooth is concerned--GRRRR!).

Maybe I'll just switch to this:

Codger not included. Some limitations may apply. See store for details. Example policy for a 800 year-old male, $500,000 for $20 a month is an OPTerm 10-Year, preferred plus policy. OPTerm 10 issue ages 20-80, 20-900 for WA. Product issued by Banner Life Insurance Company, Rockville, MD. Premium rates vary by coverage amount: $100,000-$249,999, $250,000-$999,999 or $1 million and above. Premiums quoted include $50 annual policy fee. Premiums are guaranteed to stay level for 10 years and increase annually after initial guarantee period. OPTerm policies can be issued in preferred plus non-tobacco (no tobacco use in past 36 months), preferred non-tobacco (no tobacco use in the last 24 months), standard plus non-tobacco or standard non-tobacco (no tobacco use in past 12 months) and standard tobacco classes. Coverage can be renewed to age 95. OPTerm policy form #RT-97. Not available in all states. Policy descriptions provided here are not a statement of contract. Rates as of 8-15-05. Services in Florida provided by Charan J. Singh, licensed agent. Advertising compliance #06-071. I'm not wearing pants. Film at eleven.

Seems we've come a long way in a short time, technology-wise! At least it seems like a short time .... you know the old saying the older you get the faster time goes .....

We have a small business plan with Cellular One, and our contract is due to be renewed in July. We have just started looking into other providers so I'm going to be sure to have them look extra closely at Cingular.

How do you like your Razr? Last year, my 14-year old son made a bet with me that he could learn the riff to Back in Black on his guitar, and if he DID learn it, I'd buy him a Razr. I stupidly agreed before I realized how much they cost! He learned it, I forked over the money and within a week he took it back and exchanged it for an LG. He wanted the Razr so badly, then decided it was too big.

Needless to say, no more bets .... I hope you like your Razr.

Back to the thread subject - I do think those iPhones are pricey. But maybe not, when I consider the capabilities.

I reckon you should.

So far so good, excepting the Bluetooth limitations Sprint imposes upon it.

When you bet against the house you are destined to lose. Trust me. Look at my name.

New products equal high prices. Give it a few months. Still, capabilities equal high prices.
