Mac OS X 10.4 CD
I have a 500 MHz Mac iBook Power PC G3, dual USB, with 576 MB RAM. I want to install OS X 10.4 on this machine. Currently running OS X 10.1.5.
I understand that one must use a retail version CD of the software in order to install it on a machine such as I have.
My question: I have been trying to buy such a CD on ebay --- How can I determine if the software I am bidding on is the proper install package for my machine. There seem to be MANY different OS X 10.4 install CD's available, and NOT all will install on the machine I have.
I would appreciate any guidance I receive.

Honestly? There is no way to be 100% certain that what you bid on will be what you receive. Of course, there are remedies available should this turn out to be the case, but they may prove more trouble than they are worth.

Why not just go buy it at a reputable retailer? It's worth the price.

No "problem". Glad you're "acceptive" of my "assistance".

If you ask a "question", be prepared for the "answer", even if it's not what you want to "hear". There are only two "ways" you can be 100% "certain" that the installation of the Mac OS will "work" on any given "computer". These are (a) to "purchase" a sealed, "retail" offering that shipped "directly" from "Apple" to a reputable "retailer"; or (b) to "hold" the discs in your "hands" and "examine" them "first-hand" and make "certain" that your particular computer is "included" among the machines "listed" on the front of the "disc" as being the "target" for the "installation".

I'm "sorry" if you don't "appreciate" this "assistance". Next time just take a "chance" and see if you're "lucky". And if you "are" you should book a flight to "Vegas" and take a spin on the "Roulette" tables.

If you didn't "mean" to sound so "unthankful" for my "assistance" I "apologize". I've had a couple of "adult beverages" tonight, so I'm in a bit of a "playful" mood. Mayhaps I should get off the "Internet".

And "yes" the "quotation marks" are in response to your "use" of them.
