Networking with pcs
I have a macbook running OS X 10.7 and i'm trying to network with my roomate's pc (Dell WinXP SP2). We are on the same wireless router which is a Belkin model #F5D6231-4. I was previously on a network with a similar PC that had windows XP SP2, but this new computer can't establish a network for some reason. The PC has a Sundbelt Kerio Personal Firewall, but fails to connect even if its turned off. Does anybody know how to set up this network?

It could be that the wireless router's firmware needs to be updated to allow connection(s) with non-Windows computers. Check with the manufacturer to find out for certain.

The reason this first came to mind is that I was having a similar problem at my office, and after nearly pulling out the few hairs I had left on my head the thought occurred to me to check the firmware updates on the manufacturer's web site, and lo and behold there was one. After installing the update all was well, and instantly so.

Hope this helps. If not check back and I or someone else will gladly attempt (that's the key word, mind you! ) to assist.

If you are wanting to share files after you have established a connection you will have to turn on Windows File Sharing on your Mac OR turn on file sharing (set a folder to "share") on the Windows computer.

In either case you may have to create a username and account that has permissions to those shared locations so that each of you can read and write to each other's computers.

If you are trying to play head to head games that install on both Mac and PC's (I don't know of any, but I am not a big gamer either), you will have to setup the game software to speak to each other.

I'm sure the person meant 10.4.7.
