Rescued items from Mac 9.1
Although I purposely delete the HISTORY and empty the TRASH bin before I turn off my computer, I enevitably find a bunch of RESCUED ITEMS in my TRASH as soon as I turn on my computer. I can never OPEN these RESCUED ITEMS, so I'm bewildered as to where they come from.

Is it possible that someone has long-distance access to my computer through some sophisticated hardware I do not know about ? If so, how can I find out?

I use INTERNET EXPLORER 5.

Other mysterious things have happened recently. For instance, on Oct. 23, many messages that I had deleted in HOTMAIL, suddenly reappeared in my DELETED MESSAGES box.

Please help!!

I remember getting those rescued items, when I used to use may mac a lot.
I also remember that they were always temp files of some kind. Nothing important. They should be nothing for you to worry about.

As for deleted items suddenly reappearing.........I have no idea. Never had that happen.

Refer to this article at Apple concerning Rescues Items. Sounds as if it is just normal behavior.

As far as Hotmail, well, if you delete a message it is placed in the Deleted Messages box until you empty it...
