Couple questions about an iMac
At least, I think it's an iMac. My buddy just got what I think is an iMac due to the description he gave me. The monitor is the whole computer, it has a clear back, etc. I don't know if there's other Apple computers like that so I'm guessing it's an iMac, but it's probably nothing relatively new anyway (maybe a G3 or something). I don't know much about it in terms of specs, but I do know it has OS 9 from what he says. He recieved it from his girlfriend's grandfather, and he has The Sims Collector's Edition, but it's the Windows version. That idea is scrapped, which was actually why he actually wanted it in the first place. I'm going to try and build him a PIII system out of old parts to compensate, but he still has this Mac. A few things he wanted me to ask.

1. Are there any decent free games? It has NO games on it. It can be freeware, demos, or the small games Windows has like Solitaire, just anything to give it some options.

2. He said he keeps getting a message stating "16K Not Available" when browsing the folders of the The Sims Collector's Edition. Is this just becuase it's the Windows disc, or is it something to the system or OS?

3. This question is from me, but what are some alternatives to the common Windows applications? I already know Firefox is an option for a browser, but is Apple's Safari browser any good?

1. There should still be some OS 9 games here and here.

2. I am clueless.

3. Safari is a great browser, small clean, and fast. Though I would stick with Safari or better yet Firefox here are some other browsers for OS X:

  • Camino
  • Epiphany
  • iCab
  • Opera
  • SeaMonkey
  • OmniWeb
