Mac Server connection issue
We have a G5 (10.3.9) that is having problems connecting to our mac server. All the rest of the macs we have connect fine. The mac in question works just fine except that now it won't mount any shares from the mac server. It did previous to yesterday. Both the mac and the server have been rebooted. The mac connects to windows shares fine and gets on the internet, but not the mac server. It gets as far as connecting to the server and showing the shares to connect to. When you choose which one to connect, it just sits there and the little pinwheel spins. It never does connect. I am pretty new to Macs, so I was just wondering if there is any thing I can do to check for problems on the machine or rebuild something or do general maintenance?

Ok, so after having to put the HD in a Dell machine, I tested and found the hard drive was bad. Now I have the task of copying data to a new drive. I have tried both SuperDuper! and Carbon Copy cloner, both with no luck... Ghost doesn't work for macs either... Anybody have any suggestions?

Ended up getting a new hd and loading it from scratch. I have tried both SuperDuper! and Carbon Copy Cloner in the past and neither have produced a bootable drive, even when the option is checked. Does anybody have any other suggestions on how to copy a MAC drive and make it bootable?

Being its quite late, and that I've not had the 'pleasure' of doing this task, all I can offer is the following sites w/ hopefully some pertinent help:

http://www.smartcomputing.com/editor...1r06.asp&guid=

http://www.engadget.com/2004/08/17/h...ootable-drive/

http://developer.apple.com/testing/docs/TNasr.html

Lastly, thanks for reposting and updating - at least anyone else w/ similar problem in future can reference this thread for ideas, etc.

Don't know what you're doing differently than me. I've used SuperDuper to make bootable copies and never had a problem.

Have you tried SuperDuper tech support?

Have you considered using the OSX Migration Assistant?

Very new to MAC and really don't want to work on them... Just have to sometimes. For some reason this time when I tried SuperDuper! it would install and open, but when you hit the copy button, it wouldn't do anything, no error, no window, no nothing. I am using the free edition so tech support is probably out of the question. I have it all reloaded now so I really don't need help on it anymore. It would be nice to find something for next time this happens.
