Solved: Can't stream audio?
I am trying to listen to a radio station online, but I can't get the Windows media player for Mac to download properly, and when I installed just the wmv plugin for quicktime or whatever, it still doesn't work. I've even downloaded RealPlayer (which I hate with a passion!!!) but I just can't get it to work. Suggestions??

Thanks!
Bec

Is this the link to the page from which you are attempting to download Windows Media Player?

The link I provided is to Microsoft's web site.

Just for fun, can you describe the problem you're having? Or shall we play twenty questions?

Ahhh....Vegas, you are....undescribable!!

Ok, when I would click on the installer, quicktime would pop up with a little message that said it couldnt' play the video (which I am unsure why it thought there was a video). So thinking I had used the wrong option, I downloaded the installer file again...same problem. Dunno what is going on, and hoping I didn't end up at a fake site that just looked similar, that is about it.

So, for 20 questions....hmmmmm....well, I guess, how old are you??? Where are you from? Why are you studying law? How did you get so smart on computers? How old is your son? What kind of car do you drive? Do you have a job? Do you like your job? Do you enjoy law school? Read any good books lately? What are your plans for after you graduate? Do you ever plan to run for a government judge of some sort? Ok, so I ran out before I got to 20....but I gave it a shot!!

Hey Vegas,

you are prolly getting annoyed by now, but ok, the second link is bad...I got an error page when I clicked it. The first link I downloaded from it, and it gave my a file type that I don't know what application to use to open it. when I did it, I used the "open with Stuffit expander" option. Then when I got the thing downloaded and tried to open it it gave me the thing about opening a web page or some sort of request. I told it to do it anyway, and it gave me a blank web page....what the heck am I doing wrong??

Both the links work perfectly well. I have verified this from three different computers.

Either of these file types is compatible with Stuffit Expander. I cannot explain why you are having problems.

Sorry.

Hey Vegas...Dunno what I was doing wrong the other day, but it's working now. The only thing I can think of is not restarting Firefox after the download to reset whatever might have been using quicktime. So I just wanted to let you know it's working now, I can officially listen to the absolute BEST rock station in the world!! YAY!!

So thanks for your help!!

Glad to hear you got it working. What is this radio station of whence you speak? KROQ?

KROQ. (pronounced kay-rock) When I lived in Hollywood it was my favorite (music) station to listen to when I got tired of whatever CDs I had with me (this was in the pre-iPod days, mind you).

Though I should say that more often than not, when not listening to music I had the radio on KFI 640 AM.

Pre-iPod days?? I'm still in those days. things are too damn expensive for no more than they are. It's funny, the site you put up looks and sounds like it's a twin to t95...wonder who copied who?? t95 has been around since like the 60's...they be gettin' old....HEHEHE

At least you aren't like my hubby...he's all about 550 KFaRM AM, and that station that has Bill O'Reilley...AM stations drive me crazy...I like music, not talking...

I don't think those call letters were used until the early 70s, but I believe it operated under different call letters beginning in the 60s.
