using Mac OS on a custom PC
I am building my own PC and i was wondering if it was possible to get the Mac Operating System onto my custom built PC. What would I need to build a Mac capable PC if possible?

At the very least you will be violating the EULA (End User License Agreement). And, as such, you'll not get any assistance in so doing from this forum.

If you're comfortable with breaching a contract it's up to you. Don't think this is just an Apple thing, by the way. The EULA for every piece of software has limitations that are easily crossed, and have stiff penalties, if pursued.

I'd be sure to read the contract very carefully. The remedies that may be available to the manufacturer (in this case Apple), should they (a) find out; (b) do anything about it; and (c) succeed in doing something about it (which is quite likely, if part (b) is answered in the affirmative, especially in California and/or the Ninth Circuit, where I guarantee you the Choice of Law Clause has such things adjudicated) might make it worth your time and money to consider other options, such as just buying a Mac, even a used one.

Pay particular attention to any arbitration requirement (which is a part of almost any contract these days, for better or worse). That alone can cost you out the rear ($2,700 fee to the American Arbitration Association, plus $400 per hour for the arbitrator) just to have the case heard outside of a court of law, which may be required by the contract you accept just by opening the box. God help you if your arbitrator is a Chatty Cathy.

If it doesn't have an arbitration clause you might, if the decision is against you, be liable for all attorney fees (and if it does have an arbitration clause, you may be liable for up to $3,000 of attorney fees, plus all your attorney fees--a mere pittance compared to the costs involved in a trial). And, let me assure you, that will add up very quickly.

You'd be far better off just saving up the money and getting an authorized machine, even an old used one.

Mind you, personally, I wish Apple would open it up for all comers to use on all machines. I think a lot of people would switch over, if not completely, at least partially. But I just don't see it happening, and, for now, it's a violation of the contract. Do so at your own risk, however slight that risk might be.

Hi,

If you want a PC, build a PC with a Windows OS, if you want a Mac, get a Mac. Simple as that.

The illegal may be true but the slow is not.

But these are not the forums to discuss such things.

It would be more trouble than it's worth. And very unstable. So pretty much pointless. If you want a system the runs both OS's, just get a MacBook or a Mac Pro. Stable and hassle free.

You cannot buy a version of 10.4 or 10.5 from the Apple store? That would have a different EULA. And if he is building a computer not based on the PowerPC but instead on the Intel chip, would he not have the capability to install any operating system he would desire?

no as far as i know apple has not let there os be installed on anything other than a mac this is why if you want mac osx you have to buy a mac

it is diffrent than windows where thay let you install it on any thing

that is why things like bill boards and things run windows and not mac osx.

Actually, you are breaking the rules, maybe you should actually read the TSG Rules before your next post. Any more suggestions of illegal activity, and your account will be disabled.

Worked just enough to do small tasks and get a feel for the OS if ppl have never used it before but not really worth doing! Just stay away from it and if u want a mac buy a mac
