Thumbs up No sound
Hi guys,
I'm running Windows XP and yesterday I installed a new CD-RW/DVD-ROM. The installation was a success but I lost all sound.
Please help me restore my sound.
Thank you

XP on an Intel Mac?
By sound, do you mean all sounds, audio CD sound, etc?

Have you check all your media mixer levels?

You have offered very little in the way of information Ellie ... makes it a tad difficult to help you.

ilovedonna,
I'm going to try some moves that I learned earlier and then, if they don't work I'll be getting back to you one way or another.
Thank you foe responding.

Ok. I'm going to try to be more specific. My software is Windows XP. After a series of checking to make sure all speaker wires are plugged in properly I am unable to get any sound what so ever. My speakers are turn on and I have a green light indicating there ready to put out sounds, if there were any. I don't show any speaker icons in the task bar.
I hope this is enough for you to help.

it's a gateway gp7-500 with xp sp2, PIII, 512mb ram. Boot Camp or Parallels???? I've downloaded and re-booted using Realtek ac97 version 4.0 and it still doesn't show up under device manager.

As I suspected, you're in the wrong forum section Ellie .... this is the Apple Macintosh section and you need to repost your thread here

Is it possible that you left an audio connection loose when you installed the drive?

Here's a link worth checking out.

As we both suspected, hence why I threw in the media mixer levels.
