Reinstalling OS on eMacs w/ security protections~Yikes Help!
I have a few 1.25Ghz eMacs that came from a computer lab. They will not boot from CD. They boot to a student log-in screen, and had boot security and password protection on the Open Firmware.

I have found how to disable the password for the Open Firmware and can now get into the PRAM and have reset to 'security-mode none'. Yet when I try to get it to boot from the set-up CD, using either the 'T' or 'C' snag keys, I get the circle with a line through it. Could there be something on the hard drive (in addition to the PRAM) that stops a boot from CD?? Is there any way to delete all the files on the HD from the Open Firmware? Am I missing something here??

On other Macs when I've had a similar issue, I just pull the hard drive, format it on a PC, and stick it back in to do a fresh install of the OS ..... These are the CRT type eMacs & it is a huge pain to remove the hard drives on these....

Any help would be most appreciated and I would sing your praises from on high

Also tried...
Well I'm at my wits end on these things...... with 'security-mode none' and the hard drive completely removed, STILL won't boot from a CD...Keep getting that circle ...If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them!

If you don't get an answer here, try "Macgurus.com". I have found them helpful in the past.
