ichat issue
Hi, I just got my mac a month ago. The internet was working fine, and still is, but now even with the internet completely perfect, my AIM/Ichat drops every 2-3 minutes. Why can this be, and how can I fix it?

Thanks!

Question iChat - crashing
I am having similar problems but haven't found a solution as yet. At times I need to reboot my iMac 20 and then reboot the DSL modem and that seems to help. I do find that some people I chat with are OK and some just seem to crash after 3 to 10 seconds after connecting. I looked at the detail logs (which I forwarded to Apple) and it appears to be a timeout issue which I don't know how to set. About a month ago I read somewhere that you need to change the port assignment from 1590 to something else which I have yet to try since I lost the message thread.

've been searching out the iChat issue. Seems like other people have the same problem.

I don't know how valid this information is going to be...but here are the three things they suggest:

1. Open up the following ports in your Router/Firewall (see Linksys example screenshot attached)

UDP - 5060, 5190, 5297, 5298, 5678, 16384-16403
TCP - 5190, 5298

2. Go in to System Preferences on the Mac, then Quicktime, then Streaming. Set Streaming Speed to 1.5 Mbps T1/Intranet/LAN.

3. Go in to iChat Preferences, and then Video. Set the Bandwidth Limit to None.
