safari won't show multimedia applications

i noticed recently that safari won't show any videos or media players on various websites, such as youtube videos and myspace music applications. the thing is though, it's not like i can't play anything; the applications just don't appear.

my imac is all completely up to date. in fact, i just checked for updates as i was typing this, and it says i'm all set... so i'm not sure why this is happening, or what i should do to fix it... any ideas? any help you can provide is greatly appreciated!

thanks!
