What size partition would you recommend for XP?
As of right now, I'll only be using Windows to run my copy of Photoshop Elements, which I bought some years ago for Windows. So I only partitioned Windows for 5GB, which is plenty for just this.

But I'm thinking about deleting Windows and repartitioning it to allow for any future Windows apps I may want to use (though I can't think of any I'd want to use at the moment). Would you suggest I make the partition 10GB, 15GB, or 20GB. I don't wanna go any higher than 20.

I'm thinking either 10 or 15, what do you suggest? Keeping in mind that the OS itself, and Photoshop Elements fits fine at 5GB.

One more thing: When booted in Mac OS X, it showed the Windows partition on the desktop as "Untitled". Is there a way to rename this to "Windows"?
Here's a screen shot of what I mean:

How much free space do you have and how large is the drive?

Did you just buy a Mac, namenotfound?

Apple claims to be 120, but when you factor in the "you can't touch this.." part that's on all hard drives, it's actually 111 GB.

I have about 50-70GB of free space. (don't remember actual amount, and not on that computer right now to check)

I bought the computer on November 16, 2007. But didn't attempt bootcamp until yesterday (I've been busy).

I'd set it at 20GB so you have room for some documents, too. To rename the partition, just right click it and select rename.

Alright, I'll make it 20. As for renaming the way you said, it doesn't let me. And in "get info" where you normally can rename, it's grayed out so you can't.

Oh wow, I just checked, and I only have 39 free GB on the hard drive. So maybe I'll partition it 10 instead of 20 for Windows, if you think that should be enough.

Bring up the "Get Info" window and have a look right down the bottom:

If it doesn't say you have Read/Write privileges this is why you can't rename it. Click the Details triangle to expand it and just make the necessary changes. You'll need an admin username/password. When you're done click the padlock to lock it up tight again.

I think it's safer to change it temporarily, just to rename the volume, then just change it back. The above image is of the "Get Info" details for my HD.

This is the same process you need to follow to rename your HD, so it should work for the XP icon too.

I have a 100GB drive in my macbook, and I found that about 10GB is perfect for Windows. I started out booting into windows or running parallels for the first month or so for about 40% of the time, but as time went on I found great replacements for all my windows programs on the mac side (most of them are free, or under $30, which made things even nicer).

I now find that I use windows maybe 2% of the time, and thats usually if I feel like sitting down and playing some Ultima Online in the few times a month that I actually get time.
