Solved: When opening iTunes it states that I need a different OS version
When opening iTunes it states that I need a different OS X version and will not open. I have Tiger 10.4.10. This problem just started to appear.

When I open iMovie 06 it says I need Panther to open this program. This also is a new problem.

I have my iTunes library on an external hard drive.

Any suggestions on why the sudden errors with these two programs? Thanks.

When I click on the Apple icon > About this Mac to verify the version (which I know is 10.4.10) it doesn't say anything. When I click on Software Update Safari cannot open.

Hmnnn.

The systemversion.plist file is missing from system\library\coreservices

When I type in sw_vers in Terminal I get the following response:

***** ERROR **** Can't get version dictionary

Thank you all for your help and concern.

I re-installed Tiger which went very smoothly and then updated to 10.4.11.

It is opening iTunes and iMovie w/o any issues and all the original files are there also. Sweet.

I will explain to the user how to properly seek out updates.

Have a merry!
