Kernel error repeating
I have a white macbook not quite sure of OS think 10.4.2, it was bought mid 2006 so not sure if this matches. Am at work so can't check right now.
The last couple of days keep getting the kernel error and sometimes it turns back on straight away, sometimes if remove battery and replace then it works but generally it just keeps repeating the same error.
I have never added any RAM or anything, the only thing i can think is someone downloaded TVUplayer onto my mac the other day so it came up on the desktop .exe and then couldn't be opened obviously and was put in the trashcan.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you

This kernel panic error always happens at startup, don't know if that reduces the possible problems?

Hi philippo22: welcome to Tech Support Guy.

Can you give the exact error message you see (word for word)?

Hey,
The error says You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power for several seconds or press the restart button.
It is in 4 languages.

I seem to get it straight after startup just after the apple logo but before the pinwheel, if i try to start in safe mode it just seems to delay the time until the message comes up. However, every so often it does load up normally and works fine.

Hi again Phillippo22:

Can you press the F8 key and type -v for verbose output, and report back the error?

No. You continuously hit F8 while booting until you see a boot command line appear on screen, then you type -v.

I would suggest you type debug=0x100 -v

This will also replace the restart message with the actual details of the error which should display where the problem is occurring.

Oh dear, i keep pressing f8 when the computer starts up, however, the apple sign still comes up and then the error message just like before.
