iBook G4 considering buying
I would like to buy a Apple Laptop, but can not afford a new macbook. I was thinking about an iBook G4, most likely the 1.07 Ghz or 1.2 Ghz model. I was wondering if anyone could recommend them or something else cheap. I was also wondering if they were slow. Thanks

P.S. I hope i put this in the right place.

Hi there -

I purchased my first ever Mac (a PowerBook G4) used when I was in your situation -- wanting to make a switch for a little less money. I think that's a wise choice.

Is there anything in particular you will be using it for, such as gaming or video editing? Because that would help determine if it would be fast enough to meet your needs.

I recommend checking out a few links to reviews on the iBook G4. Here are a few to get you started:

NoteBookReview.com's Review

CNET's Review

About.com's Review

MacWorld's Review

Yahoo Tech's Review

Hope that helps!

By the way - I bought mine on eBay after researching and finding a reputable seller. I was very pleased going that route. Good luck.

I will probably use it mostly for basic surfing and maybe some Garageband. I won't do very much gaming but do have a bit of an addiction to Age of Empires II.

You may find some relevant info about gaming on an iBook G4 here.

I too have had pleasant experiences buying older Macs on eBay but urge you to do a fair amount of research on the item and the seller before commiting.
