A weard issue is happining with my iMac. I can sussessfully boot off a Mac OS 9 Disk but a 10.3 disk WILL NOT BOOT AT ALL. even running the Install OS X program on the disk Even setting it as the first boot device, it just wont start

What exactly are you trying to do ... upgrade from OS 9 to Panther? Have you OS 9.2.2 installed along with the necessary Firmware Upgrade if applicable? Have you a Retail Version of Panther or a Model Specific Software Restore disc? The latter won't work on any other Mac except the one it was released with.

nope its retail OS X

yes i have 9.2.2
yes im trying to upgrade from 9 to X even when i didnt have 9 it still did not boot

Ok i tryed booting the X CD From Open Firmware using the boot cd:,\\:tbxi command and i get this weard screen of information pop up (on a OS 9 Disk it says somthing about loading ELF and just loads like normal)

well could it be a bad logic board. how can i test it. i lost the test disk and i dont feel like forking money for a disk that says your comp is broke or not

Fixed it was a bad memory stick

I have OS X on there now
