Hi Guys,

I have a bit of a dilemma on my hands.
I want to dual boot Ubuntu on my 21" iMac (2.4GHz model). I've had the Mac for just under a year now and have used Boot Camp in the past. However, I haven't used it for some time now and obviously haven't had any other OS on my system.

The other day I was experimenting with Time Machine, just to see what it does and how to set it up (in the event I need to use it). I created a partition to use with the Time Machine program to use as the backup HD. Since then, I have 'switched off' Time Machine and no longer use it. Here's where the problem lies.

When I go to use Boot Camp the following error occurs:

So what must be done? Every time I boot up my Mac, a HD partition icon appears on my desktop with the title "Time Machine Backups". Even though I have tried to delete this partition (using Disk Utility) it doesn't disappear.

I had the notion of, as opposed to deleting the partition, actually using it AS my Boot Camp partition. The partition had nothing on it but Boot Camp said it wasn't formatted in the right format or something along those lines (I can't remember exactly).

So if anyone has any idea what so ever, please post them. It's really annoying and I haven't any more ideas as to how to solve it.

So you can't delete the partition from Disk Utility? Can you post a screenshot?

I believe that for Boot Camp to work, the Windows partition has to be made using the Boot Camp assistant. I don't think a partition created using Disk Utility can be used for a Windows partition. Also, I'm not sure about this, but I think the drive can have only one partition on it for the Boot Camp assistant to partition it correctly.

I had to reformat my hard drive and reinstall using the backup disks and time machine.
