The thread starter, and we, are not interested in what you think. This person is here for a solution to their problem, not a lecture why you don't like their operating system. I advise you refrain from further such posts.

Nebastion, few questions:
1. what version OS are you using?
2. which macbook model?
3. what occurred before/during you last shut it down?
4. did you do any updates recently?
5. have you looked at this: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1367
6. did you try this too:
PMU Reset
a. turn the computer off.
b. unplug the power cord & the battery.
c. hold the power button down for 5 seconds.
d. replace all the power components, and then start up again.

If the install media is 10.4 (I don't know much about previous disks--might work there too) you can get to Disk Utility. Pick the language, maybe a license screen. Then up in the menu bar at the top you should see Utilities--pick Disk Utility from there.

Within DU select your hard drive and try running a repair permissions/repair disk and reboot to see if it helped.

Repairing shouldn't touch your data. If you do end up installing make sure you select "archive and install" and that also shouldn't delete your data--but it makes me twitchy to rely on it, since if something goes wrong with the install you've got problems.
