Bills Of Material Missing.
Hello, I need help with an issue, My sister has a Mac when she would turn it on it did not start correctly. She asked me to look. I have never really use a iMAC note book. Anyway what I guess was it was trying to boot from Network. I got it to boot and changed it to boot from harddrive. When I try update some of the programmes I get an error Can't Find Bills Of Material. I get this when trying to update Safari and the OS. Has anyone got any ideas.

Hi there tyrrelld:

Your Bills of Material (BOM) message may pertain to corrupt optical disc files. You don't have the original OS install CDs that came with the MacBook?

What version of OS X is it running? (Apple>About This Mac) And what version of Safari? Safari>About Safari

Depending upon the versions of OS X and Safari, you may be at the maximum version of Safari.

Hello again:

The latest version of Safari (3.1.1) requires OS X 10.4.11 as a minimum. Did you check your current version of Safari?

tyrelld: 10.2.8 is the last update to Jaguar (10.2.x). If the CDs that came with this machine are 10.2.6, that is the software that was originally loaded on it, and at some point in time it was updated to 10.2.8.

You could reload the OS on the machine to 10.2.6 and start fresh.

Heck no ... it's a MAC.

This will guide you: Using Restore Discs with Mac OS X 10.2 through 10.3.3

After the fresh install, run the Apple Software Updater.

Good luck!
