Solved: DVD Drive Question
I know this is possibly a dumb question or not, but does a HL-DT-ST CD-RW/DVD DRIVE GCC-S10N read Dual Layer DVDs like DVD+R DL or DVD-R DL.

As my macbook is approaching 3 yrs old and these are the basic once you go into System Profiler as I thoght it might help further

Hi there:

Unfortunately, no.

The 1.83GHz Macbooks have Combo drives, which can read Single Layer DVD, but not write to DVD. The later Macbooks which came with the 2.0GHz processors, and with Dual-Layer Superdrives, can both read and write dual-layer DVDs.

Given the SN you provided, here are the tech specs for your Mac.
