imacg4 freeze problem
I have an iMac g4 digital audio. I keep getting screen freezes with it- It has 1gB ram (1x 512 plus 2x 256). I replaced one Ram stick, but no improvement.
It tends to happen if I walk away for a while, but also can happen while importing in iTunes.
I thought at first it was the mouse freezing, but it moves around OK, and if the activity monitor is open then it freezes up too, so it seems to be the whole machine or the screen.
Would anyone know if ram be the cause? Or some problem in Bios?

Hi digda_beat (cool username, btw):

What brand did you use when replacing the RAM? The iMac G4s can be finicky with the brands - tend to not like the low-end.

I also suggest Verifying and Repairing Permissions. Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility. Highlight your HDD, then first choose Verify Permissions, then Repair (if needed).

Check how much free hard drive space you have by opening a Finder window and looking down the bottom ... also you could try removing a RAM module to see if that improves things ...
