In Outlook 2000, on the Outlook Folder List, there is a blue 1 in front of Contacts. It looks like this:
Contacts (1)
Now there are at least a few hundred contacts in there, and I can't understand what the (1) stands for. It has been there for a few months now, and it is not causing any harm, just curiosity. Any ideas....

Hi Melissa

That is funny

I just checked my Contacts and placed a blue 1 after Contacts by Right clicking on the contact and selecting Mark as Unread.

You have one Unread contact.

I suppose it could have it's uses...

In other words, Melissa, right-click the Contacts folder and hit "Mark all as Read" and it will go away. (Just in case it wasn't clear...)

Thank you for the suggestions, but the blue (1) is still there after everything is marked as unread....My mistake, the person is using Outlook 98 not 2000. I am not sure if this would have anything to do with it, but the Contacts folder is not hers. She has delegate permissions to her boss's Contacts that she accesses through her Outlook, and that is the one with the blue (1). Do you think that it has to be done on his computer, or should it not matter because she is a delegate?

Hmmmm. I don't remember exactly what permissions delegates have....

Update....I guess delegate permissions had something to do with it, because I had to Mark all as read from her boss's computer. Thanks for the tips.
