Question Excel 2k & Excel 97 open fr: Outlook 2k
I have Office 2k & Office 97 installed. When I open Excel or Word attachments from Outlook 2k it automatically associates/open the file thru office 97.

How do I set it up to open from Office 2k instead.

My work around: first I open Excel 2k, then I open the attachment(s) from Outlook 2k. That's the only way it opens correctly.

You could try right clicking any word 97 file, and select the Open With option, and then select the choose program option. Select Word 2k from the menu, and select the checkbox to always use this program to open these files.Click ok, and that should work.

Not QUITE that easy, but almost. First, look for excel.exe. You should have two. Right-click and hit properties. Find the 2000 version. Note the location.

In Windows Explorer, hold down the shift key and right-click an Excel file. Hit Open With. Hit Browse and go to the 2000 executable (only one version of Excel will appear in the list of programs, and it will be 97, that's why you have to browse to the executable). Choose the 2000 executable. Checkmark the "Always use this program..." box. Hit Ok.

Hey.

Windows Explorer menu: View-Options (or Folder Options). File types tab. Scroll down to xls. Select Open in the bottom window and hit edit.

Mine shows this: "c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\EXCEL.EXE" /e

and:

Use DDE is checked and this shows:

[open("%1")]

Lemme know--I've got something else to try.
