Whenever I open a ppt presentation from an attachment or from a the desktop, it opens a new blank document. If I click file-open I can open up any file, but a blank document always opens first. I have tried reinstalling office 2000, but it still does it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi.

Make sure this file doesn't have a NAME. Just look at the top left of your screen... Then close PPT, find and delete that file.

Also, if you look under the Office folders in Windows Explorer, see if there's any PPT files in STARTUP.

Also, in WinExplorer, go to View-Folder Options (Win98), choose File Types, scroll down to PPT, select Open and hit edit.

Mine says: "c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\POWERPNT.EXE" "%1"

We can try a registry edit if none of these help you.

Thank you very much dreamboat. I forgot to mention that the laptop has Windows 2000 Pro on it. But, when I checked the file types, instead of having a button to edit it had a button to restore to the default settings. Not sure how or what was changed, but after that, everything worked fine. You're the best.
