Angry Solved: Strange problem in Excel 2007
Hello everybody. I am facing a problem in Excel 2007 which is really annoying. When I open a excel file, The Excel application starts, but the file doesn't open normally.

I have to click another open task, after that when I back again in Excel 2007, then I see the file open. Isn't it so annoying??

If anyone can help in this regard, that will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Might be just a resource issue.

What hardware, what Windows version?

Excel File Slow Opening
When reading your post I agree with kiwiguy that this is a resource issue. When you say normal don't you really mean slow?
  1. What happens if you just sit and wait and don't go to another task?
  2. What is your cpu % usage while doing this excel work?
  3. How big is this file?
  4. Is your PC doing the same thing on word files?

Dear kiwiguy & escalader, thanks for trying to solve my problem.

I am very happy to inform you that just now I have solved the problem. The culprit was ASAP Utilities which was installed in my PC. You know this is a famous Excel Add-in. I disabled the add-in and now the problem is solved.

Thanks again for your support.

I know ASAP Utilities was not designed for Excel 2007, but still works there mostly. I have it installed as well but have not had any problems with it. You may want to try it on a similar machine to see any similarities.

Dear escalader, I just used trial & error method. It just came to my thought that a add-in might be the culprit. I found that there is only one add-in which is ASAP Utilities and I disabled it and the problem is gone!!!!

Dear firefytr, today i installed the latest version of ASAP (4.10 which released on March 19) but still same result. Now I have decided to use the ASAP as & when require basis but will not use as default add-in for excel.

Thank you everybody.

I'm guessing, but have you tidied up you HD lately?
Do a disk cleanup, then a de-fragmentation and a register optimization.
This is based on the idea you have no add ins.

Same problem
I'm having the same problem, but do not have the ASAP add-in. I've tried the office diagnostic and repair as well as the advised HD cleanup. Any suggestions?

Excel hangs
Hi. Can you please help me. When opening Excel 2007 without even opening a file in it, it hangs after a while without working in it. Only happens in Excel, not in Word.

Thanks

Ice, please see what I said in post 13. This thread was marked as solved over a year ago.
People often don't read solved posts. Also, it is generally considered poor manners to piggy-back on someone else's post (not always - if the thread is active, and no solution is forthcoming, it is generally okay. But since most threads deal with rather specific problems, it is best to have your own).
On the other hand, welcome to the forum!
