Solved: Printing Silver on to eggplant coloured paper
Is there a way to print silver text from Word 2003 to a Canon MP760 printer on to an eggplant coloured paper? I have tried customising the colour as close to silver as possible but it doesn't hardly show up on the eggplant coloured paper.

The short answer is no.

The pigmented inks used in typical inkjet printers is are close to being 100% opaque. The paper color will always show through to some extent. Your silver color is probably supposed to look gray by printing black dots with gaps between them. In your case that would probably result in just a darker eggplant color.

It might use a lot more ink but have you thought of printing on white paper and setting the document background color to the desired purple/eggplant shade? The software should then be smart enough to know not to print the background color in the area under any text or graphics. Unless you had a printer that could print edge to edge, you would end up with some type of white border.

EDIT: Is that a picture of your Kitty as your avatar?

What I /we were trying to do was print on to metallic eggplant colured 'card' to make placecards for my daughter's wedding. We made the invitations with the eggplant card and then metallic silver paper overlaid and we though instead of overlaying the placecard we would print with silver (probably being a little lazy), but seeing as we couldn't and we were fresh again the next day to continue we have printed the eggplant coloured text on to the silver paper and then over laid that on to the eggplant card....

And yes that is my kitty, called Sunshine (Sunny), she is just adorable but also quite mischievous.

Eggplant Card
Hi there,

I have just done a google search for eggplant coloured card and it came up with your forum discussion.

I have been searching for eggplant coloured card to no avail and wondered where you had managed to get some? I live in the UK but hope it will be possible to order some on the net,.

Hope you can help,

Regards

Fiona

The card I bought was by a company called Artee Supplies, they have a website arteesupplies.com.au the actual paper was called Ruby but to me it was more an eggplant colour. Hope this helps
Here is a link to the actual page, the colour does not show to its full advantage though, it is much darker in 'real life'.
