Question Solved: MS Works 8 will not uninstall
I have a 06 Gateway desktop PC which came with MS Works version 8 installed, and is running XP Media Center. I now want to remove this, and when I open up the Add/ Remove Programs and click to uninstall MS Works, the error message is this; can not continue, missing installer file; works8.msi . And I did do a file search for this .msi file, on both the PC drive and the Gateway disk, but file not found, and I only have a Gateway Recovery DVD disk, but no Microsoft Works 8 CD. So how can I get that works8.msi file so I can uninstall this program then?

I found this http://www.windowsbbs.com/other-soft...rks-8-0-a.html on a problem like yours. They recommend a 3 party software uninstall and give some links to the software. There maybe better solutions....

Thumbs up solved
This issue is now fixed. I just manually searched in; C:\Windows\Installer\ for that file that should have been named works8.msi, but the Works 8 installer file was named; 4657B.msi ,so I just gave my self file security permissions and file ownership, and re-named that file to the correct name, (works8.msi). Then in Add/Remove Programs I uninstalled Works, which gave a message box about entering a alternate path to a folder containing the installation package, so in the drop down box for "Use Source" I clicked the browse button to navigate to the msi file location C:\Windows\Installer\works8.msi and it did uninstall the program.
