I am rather New to this Networking stuff so Please forgive my Questions
if You have
Heard them a Thousand times already!

I have 2 computers
Both P-II's running Win98
1 - 450Mhz, 256m ram
2 - 233mhz, 32m ram
Both are equipped with NS-GFC2206 Fast Ethernet Adapters, connected
Head to Head with a RJ-45-X crossover cable
Both have the Drivers Correctly initialized according to Device Manager
Both are running Client for Microsoft Networks
and have IPX/SPX Protocol enabled

Qa) I am able to aquier and transfer files from 'Shared" directories on
both machines, an Also PRINT THROUGH the network to Each Others Printers

However I have been unable to Aquier OR Us each Machines "MODEM
CONNECTION" from the Other machine?

/ HOW DO I SET WIN98 TO SHARE DIAL-UP CONNECTIONS LIKE SHAREING
PRINTERS?

Qb) When Playing games across the network using the IPX/SPX protocol the
Individual Machines tend to Lock up Randomly, for no apparent reasons
AFTER the games have been Up and running correctly for several to 10
Mins. The Machiens CAN NOT be Shut down using (Alt+F4) and must be HARD
RESET!

/IS THERE A TIMER SETTING OR SOMETHING I SHOULD CHANGE BECAUSE ON
MACHINE IS 450Mhz and ONE IS 233Mhz, THE MACHINE BUS SPEEDS ARE 100Mhz
and 60Mhz RESPECTIVLY

You'll need some proxy server program such as Wingate ( http://www.wingate.com/ to handle the sharing.

There are other proxy server programs out there and some are freeware. Wingate was the only one I remembered off hand.

If all you need is simple web access, you may want to look at Vsocks. It is freeware and very easy to set up. WinGate is much more comprehensive, but it is harder to set up too.

As for the locking up - the machine speeds really shouldn't cause that. Do the games support other protocols? I have found IPX to be much slower than TCP/IP for games.

Thanks! The Locking Up turned out to be the result of haveing the Color depth set diffrently on the Respective Network Terminals!

So these Proxie Servers, Are they anything like Microsoft Server?

MS Proxy Server do you mean? Yes, they are. Just cheaper and easier to use.

No I'M sorry
The Proper Name is
Microsoft Personal Server
It comes with Front Page 98
Would that work as a Proxie Server?

No, that is not a proxy server. It is a Web Server I think - it would allow other computers to connect to your machine and view web pages on your machine. It has nothing to do with allowing computer access to the internet.
