I have an Aptiva 2162 S3C. I no longer have any white - it's like a yellow film has been slipped into my monitor. I ran the diagnostics - everything done automatically "passed", of course the manual color test failed but there were no instructions or explanations. One thing I noticed on the diagnostics it said Ihad ATI Mach 64, but on my display, settings, it says ATI 3D Rage II direct draw. It also says ATI MACH 64 isn't compatible with this computer?? I tried to get into the IBM discussion group, but it won't take my user id and password, says something about cookies (I've written them). The most recent thing I did was to load Explorer 4.0. Could that have done something? I would appreciate any help. Thanks Mary

Is it yellow right from boot up, or just after you get to the Windows desktop?

If it is right from boot, either the monitor or video card has gone bad. Easiest way to figure out which is to try a different monitor with your machine, or your monitor with a different machine.

Let us know which it is.

The yellow is right from boot up. I'm going to try the monitor somewhere else. Just got to figure out where. Thanks

Could possibly be a loose connection. My monitor used to get a similar colouring and when I moved the cable a bit it went away.
I just then checked that my video card and all connections were tight and I haven't had the problem since.

Thanks
That's what it was - cable must have been loose. It's fine now

Glad it was so easy! Wish I'd suggested you check it... Oh well.

I'll go ahead and close this since you are back up and running in non-yellow mode.
