Kenny,
The speakers don't have anything to do with recording. May, just a thought, but, are all the drivers for that sound card loaded?

bb - I feel like a real jerk....I followed your lead & went back into settings, then drivers, and what to my wondering eyes did appear?....a check in the mic "mute" box !
Oh, well....thanks for your solution....I'll wake up one of these days.

Kenny - don't feel bad. Checking the mute setting is something that lots of us forget to do.
