I just got a MS Intellimouse USB to replace my Intellimouse PS/2. I pluged it in and it detected it and it worked. So, I unpluged my PS/2. Then, when I try to reboot, it displays my video card specs and then nothing afterwards. I even tried pluging in both at the same time - same thing happens. So, I unplug the USB mouse and reboot. Everything works. Once Windows starts, I can plug in my USB and it will work, but I don't want to have to do this every time I reboot. Yes, I have USB enabled in the BIOS. I also noticed when it boots up, it says Keyboard..... Detected. Mouse..... Detected. Legacy USB..... Enabled. It doesn't even get to this part when I have the USB pluged in. I've heard of Win95 problems with USB, but I have MS Windows 98 Second Edition. Is there another patch I need or something? I have an Intel SE-440BX-2 motherboard. - WAIT.... NEVERMIND. I was thinking maybe I need a BIOS update. I have production 13, they now have version 15 out. I looked at the notes to see what they fixed. On prod. 14, they fixed "hang in POST with some USB mice". This will probably solve my problem. I figured I typed all this info down and it might help someone else - so, I left it here instead of just not posting anything. If you don't hear from me again, the BIOS update worked.

I updated my BIOS and reset my settings. When booting it didn't say mouse....detected, but it booted up and everything works fine.

Thanks for letting us know.

USB is still new and many MBs need to update their BIOS to work correctly with it, even if they claim to work with it out of the box.
